Emergency Neighborhood Meeting to Discuss Pool Issues - Time & Date TBD
Pool Issues - Tuesday, June 15, 2010 @ 11:49 AM
A lot of rumors have been going around about the pool. This is what we know (or
have been told). The rope was broken some time on Thursday, June 10th. The
board was informed (not confirmed) that children (ages unknown) took the floats
off the rope and began playing football with them. An unidentified adult was in
the pool area at the time and did not take any action to stop the children. The
rope was put in storage while we got the parts needed to repair the rope to
avoid any further damage.
We cannot let people swim without the rope being in place. This is a TN State
Health Department regulation. We can be fined and/or the pool can be shut down
if the Health Department stops by for a random check (which they do) and the
rope is not in place.
When returning to the pool to fix the rope on Sunday morning, June 13th, gravel
was found in the pool, and the water was very cloudy after being crystal clear
(and free of gravel) on Saturday. This raised questions of sabotage, and the
board questioned the safety of the water. We contacted Wieland Pools on Monday,
June 14th to explain the situation, and we were informed the gravel could not
just be vacuumed out of the pool as this can potentially harm the pool pump.
We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused everybody. The pool is
important to many people in the neighborhood, but there are some who just don’t
seem to respect the pool rules and regulations. The board members cannot police
the pool all the time. The board members have responsibilities to work and
family just like everybody else. We will address issues as soon as possible,
but we may not be available for immediate response. We need the help of all the
residents to keep our pool safe and running smoothly. Each resident has an
obligation to police the pool and confront those who are not following the pool
rules and regulations. If offenders will not cooperate, try to contact one
of the board members. If no board members are available, please contact the
Bartlett Police department.
A neighborhood meeting will be called soon to discuss the ongoing issues with
the pool. We will listen to your concerns and try to come to a resolution that
is beneficial to everybody, including the possibility of changing and/or
amending the pool rules and regulations.
Wieland Pools came out Tuesday, June 15th to remove the gravel,
service the pool, reconnect the safety rope, and get the water back to a safe
swimming status.
